Town NPC graphics
These are frivolous suggestions, but the most expensive things in the game are looks-based, so I think it's worth pointing out.
I am not sure if this has been raised before, if it has, it must have been some time ago. I did a quick search and a bit of scrolling and found nothing to this effect.
Guild Wars trading NPC look out of context. They stand at a corner of the towns and outposts without any merchandise and tools of their trade. (A guy standing in a corner with no store trying to sell you stuff. Way dodgy. )
There are exceptions, the traders in Lion's Arch at least have a bit of a stall graphics behind them. I feel that this should be a minimum effort extended to every outpost in the game. Anet already has the graphics available.
In Droknar's Forge, some dwarves are working on anvils. I'd suggest that all Armour and Weapon merchants should be doing likewise. Anet already has the movement sequence file available. At the very minimum, at least have a forge and anvil graphics behind them.
Quest NPC clap their hands and cheer when you have completed a Quest. Hell, they even turn to face you first. That's quality, and should be extended to other NPC. Anet already has the turn-to-face code, maybe Merchants wave goodbye when they complete a transaction.
I am almost 100% sure someone has raised this point before. Xunlai agents are all clones. If what they are wearing is a uniform, fine. If their haircut is company mandated, sure. But all their faces and hair colours are the same. I am sure it wouldn't take a few kb of data to give more variety to Xunlai agents.
Pre-Searing Ascalon and Istan has quite a lot of civilians going about their business. Wonderful immersive environments. I would prefer that more places be more populated. Maybe places with large concentration of players should not be packed even more. But emptier outposts would be nicer with more "life". Anet has the civilian graphics available.
No affect what-so-ever with gameplay, and maybe a tad annoying when you hold-down Alt. But if there's something that Anet has improved with each expansion, it is the mood and environment "feel" of the game world.
If any of the above suggestions will create a Lag Monster, then I can do without them. I think having a more realistic townscape will improve the immersive experience of the game.
I know Anet is busy with lotsa stuff, but I reckon 8 code-monkey hours would do wonders in this aspect of the game. Good job, Anet.
